Every heartbeat has a story.
Mine began in the operating room—on both sides of the table
I come from a family of physicians. My father, Professor Leo Bockeria, is a world-renowned heart surgeon. My mother, Dr. Olga Bockeria, has devoted her life to internal medicine.
Growing up in a household dedicated to saving lives, medicine was not just a profession—it was a mission.
But motherhood would teach me what no medical textbook ever could.
I founded this organization to ensure that no woman walks this journey alone—and no family faces silence in their of loss. We believe every mother deserves a safe birth. Every woman deserves hope. And every heart—no matter how fragile—deserves to be heard.
The Hope & Heart Bockeria Foundation exists to support mothers, children, and families facing congenital conditions, pregnancy loss, and high-risk pregnancies through science, advocacy, compassion, and hope.
Because every mother deserves protection.
Every child deserves a chance.
And every heart deserves hope.

To build a world where no woman feels invisible, no child is beyond saving, and no family walks through crisis alone.
The Hope & Heart Bockeria Foundation envisions a future where:
We believe that one life can change many.
That one mother’s courage can challenge protocol.
That one newborn’s fight for survival can spark a movement.
And we believe the time to act is before the crisis becomes a tragedy.
Our mission is to bring light, financial support, and real resources to women too often overlooked by traditional systems — women facing congenital health conditions, fertility barriers, pregnancy loss, and high-risk pregnancies.
These journeys are complex. They are medical, emotional, and financial at the same time. Too often, systems treat only one part — and leave the woman to carry the rest alone.
We exist to close that gap.
We fund urgent needs, support critical decisions, and stand beside families when time, cost, and complexity collide.
Because these women do not just need care.
They need advocates.
They need systems that understand their reality.
They need support that moves as fast as their crisis.

From Cardiac Arrest to Compassionate Action:
Why I Founded Hope & Heart
I’m a cardiologist, a medical innovator—and the proud mother of four children, including a set of twins.
But one of those births nearly ended my life.
I had a textbook pregnancy. I was young, healthy, and under excellent care. But during labor, I was accidentally given an overdose of epidural anesthesia, followed by an overdose of the antidote. My heart rate dropped to just 15 beats per minute. I lost consciousness. I stopped breathing. I was resuscitated—but when I opened my eyes, my baby was already born. I never heard her first cry. I missed the moment that should’ve been one of the happiest of my life.
That day changed everything. It gave me a perspective very few physicians have: the lived experience of being the patient, of being vulnerable, of realizing that no one is ever truly “low risk.”
This is the heart of the Hope & Heart Bockeria Foundation..
A world where congenital conditions no longer limit lifespan or quality of life, and where every woman—regardless of medical complexity—has the right and ability to safely become a mother.
